Triathlon Season Concludes with Inaugural Land Rover TriRock Clearwater Triathlon
Monday, November 5, 2012
St. Pete/Clearwater, FL (November 5, 2012) – America’s Best Beaches are ready for the first ever Land Rover TriRock Clearwater Triathlon, which will kick off on world-famous Clearwater Beach this Sunday.
The area's signature white sand beaches and warm Gulf waters will provide the perfect setting for the open water swim, which is the first leg of TriRock's unique triathlon format that includes traditional sprint and intermediate distances, as well as a three-person relay.
But it’s the rocking competition featuring live bands throughout the race and post-race concert that set this event apart. And considering it’s the end of triathlon season, Clearwater Beach is ready to rock.
“We’re excited to add TriRock to our ever-growing roster of world-class sports tourism events," said Kevin Smith, director of St. Pete/Clearwater Sports Commission. “Endurance sports are an integral part of what we do, and Clearwater Beach is the perfect location for an event like this."
Competitors will begin to descend on Pier 60 in Clearwater Beach Saturday with race registration taking place from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The transition areas around Pier 60 open at 5 a.m. Sunday with the intermediate swim beginning at 6:50 a.m. The sprint race follows 30 minutes later and the post-race party kicks off at 9:30 a.m.
The Land Rover TriRock Series is operated by San Diego-based Competitor Group, the creators of two other local sporting events: the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series and Lady Speed Stick Women’s Half Marathon, both of which have events in St. Pete. The Rock ‘n’ Roll event debuted in 2012 and is slated for Feb. 10, 2013, with the Women’s Half just two weeks away on Nov. 18.
