Visit St. Pete/Clearwater, Tampa Bay & Co. Come Together for Tourism Week 2012
Thursday, May 3, 2012
St. Pete/Clearwater, FL (May 3, 2012) - In observance of National Travel and Tourism Week (May 5-13), Visit St. Pete/Clearwater (VSPC) is once again teaming with area tourism partners to show support for the area's number one industry: tourism.
A rally for this year's National Travel and Tourism Week, which has an election-year "Vote Travel" theme, will take place at 10:30 am on Tuesday, May 8, at the Landside Terminal (Level 3, Transfer Level) at Tampa International Airport.
All industry supporters are encouraged to join VSPC, Tampa Airport, Tampa Bay & Company and other local partners for the hour-long event, which will feature comments from local leaders and representatives from area attractions, including Flamenco dancers, bagpipers, a live alligator and surprise guests from the Florida Aquarium.
VSPC will continue its observance later in the week with the unveiling of an online Memories Gallery, a brand new permanent addition to VisitStPeteClearwater.com where visitors and locals can upload their favorite vacation photos and view the submissions of others.
The St. Pete/Clearwater area welcomed more than five million overnight visitors in 2011, resulting in more than $6 billion in economic impact. In addition, the tourism industry accounted for 82,000 jobs for local residents last year.
National Travel and Tourism Week is sponsored by the U.S. Travel Association. To learn more about this annual event and the positive impact tourism has on our communities, visit their website.
VSPC is the destination marketing organization for Pinellas County, Florida.
