St. Pete/Clearwater, FL (June 2, 2011) - According to leading anthropologist Robin Dunbar, the average person has about 150 friends. If that's true, the winners of Visit St. Pete/Clearwater's '100 Days of Summer' grand prize will have to whittle their lists down to 99.
That's because the grand prize of VSPC's newly-launched promotion are two blowout summer beach parties---one at Sheraton Sand Key on Clearwater Beach and one at TradeWinds Island Resorts on St. Pete Beach---for the lucky winner and 99 of their friends. Also up for grabs are 3-night getaways at area hotels---one a week for 14 weeks---that include tickets to area attractions and other perks.
But the promotion goes beyond giveaways, shedding light on the area's must-sees and must-dos.
Shining the spotlight on a different local activity each day for 100 days, the campaign is designed to highlight events, happenings and places to be in the St. Pete/Clearwater area. Whether it's a Clearwater Beach segway tour on 'Day 13' or catching the post-sunset optical phenomenon known as the 'green flash' on 'Day 39' or a date with Dali on 'Day 53,' we're helping visitors squeeze every ounce of fun out of their vacations.
Area hotels and attractions are also getting involved, posting their own summer deals and local events on VisitStPeteClearwater.com.
"With great weather year-round, we tend to take summer for granted, so we thought this would be a unique way to share some of our favorite experiences while celebrating the season," said Visit St. Pete/Clearwater Executive Director DT Minich.
"It also gives us an opportunity to engage with Florida residents, who make up our most important summertime feeder market," he added.
