St. Anthony's Triathlon, Major League Lacrosse & Sugar Sand Festival Highlight Weekend

St. Pete/Clearwater, FL (April 26, 2013) - From downtown St. Pete to the white sands of Clearwater Beach, this weekend is highlighted by a long-standing tradition and a pair of new events.
Former Super Bowl MVP Hines Ward heads the field for the 30th annual St. Anthony's Triathlon as 3,500 of the world's best athletes take over the streets of St. Pete for the season's first 5150 Triathlon Series event on Sunday. Before the pros hit the course, the "Meek & Mighty"---shorter race for 900 participants---take their shot on Saturday morning.
Downtown St. Pete will also get its first look at Major League Lacrosse with the professional league opening the 2013 season at Al Lang Stadium. The first-ever match in Tampa Bay features the defending league champs Chesapeake Bayhawks against the Rochester Rattlers at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Gulfside, beach goers will be digging into the final weekend of the inaugural Frenchy's Sugar Sand Festivalat Pier 60 on Clearwater Beach. More than 1,000 tons of sand whipped into a variety of creations are on display from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. today, Saturday and Sunday ($7 for adults, $5 for students and seniors and military; kids under 12 free). Capping Saturday's fun is a fireworks show at 9 p.m.
