CVB WELCOMES NEW AMBASSADORS

CLEARWATER, FL (September 20, 2006) – The newest ambassadors for Florida’s
Beach will meet and tour the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Area this weekend September 22-
24. The St. Petersburg/Clearwater Area Convention and Visitors Bureau travel agent
destination specialist program allows travel agents to learn new and exciting information
about the St. Petersburg/Clearwater area.

—It’s a win-win situation,” said Nancy Foster, the CVB’s director of the Tour & Travel
department. —The area gets free sales people in our best visitors markets and the travel
agents get specific information on our destination the more travel agents know about the
area through first hand knowledge, they are able to better sale the area as a vacation
destination to their clients.”

While in the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Area the travel specialists will take a dinner
cruise, tour the Salvador Dali Museum, tour Downtown St. Petersburg, several area
hotels and resort spas, meet local hospitality industry representatives and of course spend
time on the beach.

Since 2001, more than 500 travel agents have been certified in the CVB’s Destination
Specialist programs. This course allows the agents to be better informed when dealing
with their clients.

The St. Petersburg/Clearwater Area Convention & Visitors Bureau is the countywide
tourism management and marketing organization responsible for developing and
promotions the St. Petersburg/Clearwater area as a leisure, business, convention,
conference, sports and film production destination. The St. Petersburg/Clearwater area is
the leading destination on Florida’s Gulf coast, drawing more than five million overnight
visitors annually. The area is best known for record-breaking sunshine and 35 miles of
spectacular beaches, including Fort De Soto Park, named America’s Best Beach 2005 by
Dr. Beach. A variety of attractions, world-class museums, sporting activities and naturerelated
experiences are also readily available
