Race Driver Michael Andretti has promoted many things in his career, now his star is large enough that he has even promoting an entire destination. Andretti Green Racing has teamed with the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Area
Convention & Visitors Bureau on a promotional partnership for Andretti to promote the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg and the area in several television spots and promotional opportunities.

“It’s a tremendous opportunity for us to team with one of the famous names in racing and promote our race as well as our area,” said Scott Schult, Marketing Director of the St. Petersburg/Clearwater CVB. “It’s a unique venture, but it’s been tremendously popular, so far.”

The organizations agreed to do promotional spots, advertising and testimonials of the race as well as appearances by drivers.

The Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg is the only street course, a 17 turn, 1.8 mile race running March and April every year on the streets of St. Petersburg.

Known as Florida’s Beach, the St. Petersburg/Clearwater area is the leading destination on Florida’s Gulf coast, drawing more than five million overnight visitors annually. The area is best known for 35 miles of spectacular beaches, three of which are rated among the best in the United States (including America’s Best Beach 2005 – Fort De Soto Park), and record-breaking sunshine. A variety of attractions, world-class museums, sporting activities and nature-related
experiences are also readily available.
