CLEARWATER WINS WITH VOLUNTEERISM DURING CHRISTIAN COLLEGE TOURNMENT

CLEARWATER, FL (May 4, 2006) – Clearwater is on the fast track to earning the nickname —The City of
Championships.” The St. Petersburg/Clearwater Area Sports Commission and The National ChristianCollege Athletic Association (NCCAA) have teamed up with Southeastern University, Winning Inning Baseball Academy and the City of Clearwater to host the 2006 NCCAA Division I National Baseball Championship May 16 – 20, at historic Jack Russell Memorial Stadium in Clearwater.

The eight-team tournament will be the culmination of the 56 game schedule played by the NCCAA
teams. In addition to playing games, these athletes will give back to the community by volunteering
for service projects at area churches. They will also host a banquet that highlights Christian
motivational speaker Bobby Richardson formerly of the New York Yankees.

—Having the NCCAA championship here in Clearwater is a benefit not just for the City of
Clearwater but for the entire region,” said John Giantonio Director of the St. Petersburg/Clearwater
Area Sports Commission. —For many of these young men, it will be their first visit to the area. We know they will enjoy playing in the tournament but more importantly, they will enjoy our world
famous hospitality and wonderful weather.”
