August 8, 2012 TDC Recap

Wednesday, August 8, 2012

Dear Industry Partner:

Although this month's TDC meeting was canceled in observance of the annual August recess, we wanted to update you on some of VSPC's RNC-related initiatives this month and give a few highlights from our monthly departmental reports that are available for viewing on our industry website, Pinella sCVB.com.

June Sets Another Single- Month Bed Tax Record
We're pleased to report that we've continued a record- setting season, with Pinellas County's Tourist Development Tax (TDT) for June surging 13.17% year-over-year for a gross total of more than $2.51 million. This comes on the heels of a record-breaking spring. You can see the monthly totals on th is chart from the tax collector.

Website Visitation Reaches All-Time High
VisitStPeteClearwater.com continues to thrive with website visits at an all-time high with an 86% increase from last month and 126% year-over-year. Even without visits generated from the first full month of the "100 Days of Summer" campaign , the traffic would have still surpassed the previous high. The campaign's first month received more than 27,000 entries with a growing number from our mobile platform and Facebook page.

Major Marketing Initiatives in Place for This Month's RNC
In addition to our regular summertime marketing campaign, VSPC has launched a multi-tiered marketing and advertising campaign to target the 50,000-plus visitors expected to descend upon the area for this month's Republican National Convention. Click here to see the complete list of initiatives, including a new billboard, RNC-themed print ads, videos and more.

We hope you find this information valuable, and we look forward to continuing the record-setting year as it winds down.

We look forward to seeing you at next month's TDC meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 9 a.m.

Regards,

David
