Dear Industry Partner:

As promised last month, below you'll find highlights from yesterday's Tourism Development Council meeting. These updates are designed to keep our industry partners up-to-date with developments in the St. Pete/Clearwater area tourism community, and to provide a thumbnail of the agenda items discussed at monthly TDC meetings. POW WOW WRAP-UP
The VSPC sales team is in follow-up mode after last month's International Pow Wow, which took place over three rain-soaked days in Miami. Industry feedback was generally positive, with a total of 73 appointments taking place over the three-day period. Eight area accommodation partners also attended. Pow Wow returns to Florida again next year, as Orlando was named host city for 2010.

SOCIAL MEDIA: FACEBOOK AND TWITTER
The Public Relations team explained how VSPC is leveraging social media, going online in their presentation to demonstrate the functionality of VSPC's Facebook and Twitter pages. These social media outreaches have become wildly popular, with Facebook alone claiming more than 200 million users. NECKERMANN REISEN CATALOG COVER
For the first time ever, St. Pete/Clearwater will be featured on the cover of German tour operator Neckermann Reisen's 2009/10 winter catalog cover page. The publication, which will launch in August, has a circulation of 400,000 and will contain all of the company's US and Canadian product through March 2010. As reported last month, St. Pete/Clearwater will grace the cover of German tour operator Dertour's 2009/10 winter catalog as well, thereby maximizing the area's visibility to the Central European market.

COOP ADVERTISING INSERT IN ORLANDO SENTINEL
In concert with our advertising agency, BVK, VSPC developed and launched a four-page cooperative ad that was distributed in the Orlando Sentinel on June 3, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. The insert, which featured an array of characters from our new Ambassador Ad Campaign, included ads for 9 local accommodations, who partnered with VSPC for this spring/summer campaign. Another series of coop ads is scheduled for this fall.

Again, these are just a few highlights of the meeting.
