Friday, April 15, 2011

St. Pete/Clearwater, FL (April 15, 2011) - Downtown St. Pete will transform into the perfect backdrop as artists from across the country display their creations at the 36th Annual Mainsail Arts Festival this weekend in picturesque Vinoy Park.

Over 100,000 people are expected to pack the park for the free festival that's already gained acclaim on Sunshine Artist Magazine's list of the "100 Best" Fine Arts events in the country.

The show will feature more than 250 juried Fine Art & Craft exhibitors competing for $50,000 in prize money. Participants will be judged on their creations in ceramics, digital art, fibers, glass, jewelry, metal, photography and more.

The festival features children's art with the "Young at Art" exhibition, a juried competition featuring artwork created by local students. Future artists can unleash their creativity with marble artistry, fish prints, swan ponds, watercolor butterflies and magical star wands at the Junior League Kids Create Tent.

Mainsail also delivers non-stop performing arts with a diverse and eclectic line-up of local musicians and entertainers. In addition to the classic Motown sounds of Pocket Change, festival goers can also enjoy rock, country, R&B, blues and much more.

To tempt your taste buds, a variety of culinary delights, ranging from crab cake sandwiches to fresh kettle corn to baby back ribs, will be available for purchase in the festival's food court.

The show runs Saturday, April 16, from 9 am to 6 pm, and from 10 am to 5 pm on Sunday.
