St. Pete/Clearwater, FL (June 4, 2010) – With more food than you can shake a fork at---and live music from an assortment of national recording acts---A Taste of Pinellas returns to downtown St. Pete’s Vinoy Park this weekend.
Thousands are expected to pack the park today through Sunday, June 6, for the annual food and music festival that benefits St. Petersburg’s All Children’s Hospital.
Around 50 of the area’s top-notch nosheries will be in attendance, serving up everything from lobster spring rolls to corn dogs to chocolate fondue. The event’s Import and Specialty Beer Garden also caters to even the most discriminating beer drinker, with a collection that includes Bass (England), Beck’s (Germany) and Longboard Island Lager (Hawaii), among others.
Food and drink can be obtained from each individual booth in exchange for ‘tickets.’ A sheet of 10 tickets can be purchased for $5 at the festival, with restaurants selling their items for anywhere between 1 to 12 tickets.
Guests can also drop by the GTE Federal Credit Union booth to pick up their ballot for the People’s Choice Awards and to become eligible to win prizes throughout the weekend. Event organizers will tally the votes and crown the winning restaurants in categories like ‘Best Culinary Creation’ and ‘Best Booth Display and Presentation.’
In addition to a demonstration by the Disc-Connected K9s---the world-famous Frisbee dogs---live music will be featured on the event’s main stage all weekend.
The entertainment kicks-off tonight at 5pm, with the Shawn Brown Band, while ‘80s favorites, Huey Lewis & the News, take the stage at 8:30pm.
On Saturday, a pair of high-profile country acts---Lonestar and Martina McBride---highlight the day’s entertainment. Immediately following McBride’s performance, an explosive fireworks show over the downtown Bayfront will take place.
Best known for his role as Oliver Oken on the Disney Channel smash, Hannah Montana, Mitchel Musso headlines Sunday’s roster of entertainers that also includes pop trio, School Gyrls.
Admission to the festival is $5 for adults---with children under 12 admitted free---today and Saturday. On Sunday, admission for everyone is free.
The event will be open today from 5pm to 10pm, Saturday from 11:30am to 10pm and Sunday from 12pm to 7pm.
