St. Pete/Clearwater, FL (February 8, 2013) - Rockin' runners from around the country will descend on St. Pete/Clearwater this weekend for the area's music-infused endurance event---with a new 5K twist.

The second annual Rock 'n' Roll St. Pete Half Marathon welcomes thousands of competitors, their families, supporters and a host of live musical acts.

Following a two-day expo set to take place today and Saturday inside Tropicana Field, Sunday's race, which features a shorter 3.2-mile version this year, will kick-off at 7:30 a.m. from the Trop.

To celebrate the fun, Visit St. Pete/Clearwater is giving away a 3-night stay at the Postcard Inn on St. Pete Beach. Rock 'n' Roll participants are encouraged to submit a race-day photo on Facebook or on Twitter andInstagram using the hashtag "StPeteRocks." One winner will be chosen at random.

The scenic race course takes runners along Central Avenue's unique downtown shops and restaurants, past the iconic Dali Museum and Renaissance Vinoy Resort & Golf Club, and along the beautiful downtown Bayfront before an exhilarating finish at North Shore Park. Finishers can literally dip their toes in the bay upon completing the 13.1 mile distance.

Along their journey through St. Pete, runners will be motivated and entertained with live music from local musicians at each mile marker of the course. Enthusiastic cheerleaders and thousands of spectators bring together a unique running experience found only at a Rock 'n' Roll event.
Following the race, runners can relax and enjoy a rockin' concert---headlined by hip hop superstar Sean Kingston---and beer garden at the Finish Line Festival in North Shore Park.

The pre-race expo, which is open to the public from noon to 6 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, features more than 60 exhibitors showcasing the latest in running gear, sports apparel, health and nutritional information and more.
