BIG EAST-Big Ten Baseball Challenge returns to the area February 18-20

St. Pete/Clearwater, FL (January 27, 2011) - Tickets for the third annual BIG EAST-Big Ten Baseball Challenge, hosted by the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Sports Commission, are now available at www.bigeastbigtenbaseballchallenge.com.
The event takes place February 18-20 at facilities located throughout the area, pairing 16 teams and hundreds of players from two of the country's most recognizable athletic conferences.
"We're excited to welcome the teams back," said Kevin Smith, Director of the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Sports Commission. "It's a great opportunity for us to highlight the destination, and the players enjoy getting out of the cold and onto our major-league caliber fields and world-class beaches."
An all-tournament pass, which provides access to all 24 games of the Challenge, can be purchased for $25. Individual passes granting entry to all of that day's games at all venues are available for $10.
Games will be played at Clearwater's Jack Russell Memorial Stadium and Bright House Field, St. Pete's Al Lang Field and Walter Fuller Baseball Complex and Dunedin's Florida Auto Exchange Stadium.
Teams participating in this year's event are Cincinnati, Connecticut, Louisville, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, St. John's, Seton Hall and West Virginia from the BIG EAST and Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Ohio State, Penn State and Purdue from the Big Ten.
The Big Ten won the inaugural Challenge in 2009, 15-9, while the BIG EAST was victorious in 2010, 17-13.
