St. Pete/Clearwater, FL (July 3, 2014) - Visit St. Pete/Clearwater is pleased to announce the appointment of Tony Armer as the area's newest Film Commissioner.
Tony ArmerArmer brings a broad range of experience in all aspects of film making to the position---including acting, directing, producing and teaching as a film professor. He is also the co-founder of the internationally-acclaimed Sunscreen Film Festival, a locally-based festival in its ninth year.
"With his broad range of experience, and his eye on the future of the industry, Tony comes equipped to build upon the area's strong reputation for TV and film production," said Visit St. Pete/Clearwater Deputy Director, David Downing.
Armer is only the second person to lead the Film Commission in its 22-year history. Jennifer Paramore, who established the Film Commission as a stand-alone organization before eventually moving it in-house as part of the Convention and Visitor's Bureau, retired earlier this year.
"I'm looking forward to the challenge of growing all that Jennifer has done," Armer said. "The area already has a very high profile in the film and television production world, and I aim to cultivate that base while exploring development of new areas, such as digital media and web-based content creation."
Armer will oversee all operations of the Film Commission, which is a department of Visit St. Pete/Clearwater, the destination marketing organization for Pinellas County.
