Thursday, May 19, 2011

St. Pete/Clearwater, FL (May 19, 2011) - With more food than you can shake a fork at---and live music from an assortment of national recording acts---A Taste of Pinellas returns to downtown St. Pete's Vinoy Park this weekend.

Thousands are expected to pack the park tomorrow through Sunday, May 22, for the annual food and music festival that benefits St. Petersburg's All Children's Hospital.

Around 50 of the area's top-notch nosheries will be in attendance, serving up everything from burgundy snails to pulled pork to stuffed Belgian waffles. The event's Import and Specialty Beer Garden also caters to even the most discriminating beer drinker, with a collection that includes Alexander Keith's Nova Scotia Style Pale Ale (Canada) and Leffe (Belgium), among others.

Food and drink can be obtained from each individual booth in exchange for 'tickets.' A sheet of 10 tickets can be purchased for $5 at the festival, with restaurants selling their items for anywhere between 2 to 12 tickets.

Amanda Drake & the Barn Burners will kick-off the entertainment tomorrow at 5 p.m., with crooners Josh Turner (6:15 p.m.) and Chris Isaak (8:15 p.m.) also scheduled to perform.

A full day of live music on Saturday is punctuated by the appearance of a pair of acclaimed guitarists. Bluesman Buddy Guy takes the stage at 6:45 p.m., followed by country superstar Bonnie Raitt at 8:30 p.m.

Immediately following Raitt's performance, an explosive fireworks show will take place, booming and bursting over the downtown bayfront.

Soulful singer Colbie Caillat (3:45 p.m.) and '90s chart-toppers, Third Eye Blind (5:30 p.m.), highlight Sunday's roster of performers.

Tickets purchased by 11:59 p.m. tonight online will be just $10, while those purchased at the gate will be $15. Children 12 and under are admitted free all weekend.

The event will be open tomorrow from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.
