St. Pete/Clearwater, FL (December 2, 2010) - Between its pristine beaches, top-notch restaurants, luxurious resorts and thriving arts scene, the St. Pete/Clearwater area has recently garnered high praise from a number of top-tier national media outlets.
The area was one of only two Florida destinations to be included inBudget Travel's recent round-up of "America's 10 Best Winter Beach Retreats." Founded by legendary travel writer Arthur Frommer, the publication reaches more than 3 million readers through its monthly magazine and online presence at BudgetTravel.com.
Budget Travel doted on the area's "influx of trendy restaurants, coffeehouses, and galleries" and its proximity to key markets like Orlando and Washington D.C. Images of each destination on the list were also published today on HuffingtonPost.com.
Travel+Leisure chimed in with accolades of their own just this morning on NBC's top-rated TODAY Show. In the lead spot of a segment promoting T+L's newest book---UnexpectedUSA---the area's "beautiful Gulf Coast beaches" were touted to the show's 6 million viewers, as well as the Postcard Inn on St Pete Beach. That spot can be seen here.
A second piece featuring the destination is slated to run on TODAY on December 9.
In addition to those honors, two Clearwater Beach hotel properties also picked-up glowing reviews from a pair of industry giants.
In just its first year of existence, the Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort and Spa---which opened its doors on February 1, 2010---has secured AAA's prestigious Four Diamond ranking.
The coveted award is designated for hotels and resorts that deliver only the highest quality of accommodations, hospitality and service. Less than four percent of more than 31,000 AAA-rated properties achieve this elite standing.
Another of Clearwater Beach's Four Diamond properties---the Sandpearl Resort---has been crowned a"2010 Readers' Choice Award" winner in the December issue of ConventionSouth magazine.
The Sandpearl is one of only 50 meeting sites in the south---six in Florida---to receive the award, which is voted on by the more than 18,000 of the publication's readers. Winners were selected for displaying exemplary creativity and professionalism to groups.
